Twenty migrants deported from the United States arrived in Liberia the first group of an eventual 1,200 deportees that the West African country says it will receive from the US under a new deal.
The first deportees arrived at Roberts International Airport outside Monrovia Thursday. Under a series of often-secret agreements, the Trump administration has deported thousands of people to two dozen countries that aren't their own, as it pushes ahead with its immigration crackdown, advocates say.
This as 35 Mexicans deported from the United States arrived in Honduras on Thursday, as part of that recent shift in US policy, this time sending Mexican nationals to Central America before their return home.
