Boy arrested over abusing classmates' cat

Sources say police arrested a 14-year-old boy on suspicion of abusing and killing a pet cat. It is understood the cat belonged to the boy's classmate, who had asked him to take care of the pet temporarily while they were out of town.

Sources say the suspect brought an eight-month old cat to a Sham Shui Po veterinary clinic last week. A vet found the cat was soaking wet and suffered from ascites. Blood stains were also spotted around the cat's mouth and nose.

The cat later died, and the clinic reported the case to police. It is understood that the student kicked and hit the cat in a Cheung Shan Wan unit.
