HK travellers continue trips to Tokyo after rain disruption in Narita

Heavy downpours in Chiba Prefecture in Japan on Thursday night have left thousands of travellers stranded at Narita Airport.

They include many Hong Kong travellers.

Severe flooding has occurred in multiple places with bus and train services to and from central Tokyo suspended.

The airport distributed dry food and sleeping bags to affected travellers.

At Hong Kong International Airport, many Hong Kong residents set off to Tokyo's Narita Airport this morning as usual.

Cathay Pacific says flights to and from Tokyo are operating as usual. If passengers have their travel to and from the airport affected by local severe weather, CX says they can rebook tickets or change destinations free of charge.

Hong Kong Express says flights to and from Tokyo are currently operating largely as usual. For passengers who cannot make it in time to board their original flights, backup flights or free rescheduling have been arranged.
