The Food Expo kicks off at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, running for five consecutive days, with exhibitor offering various promotions to attract customers.

The Expo opens at 10am, and many visitors flocked in to make purchases.

Some find the discounts at the exhibition are very good.

This visitor buys a 99-dollar gift trolley which contains many items, including wine, rice and beverages. She believes it is great value and the deal can not be found elsewhere.

Others find the prices similar to stores and are searching for better deals.

Visitor LUCY HO: "I just tried some food. Not too many people, so I can walk around and see and try some food. The same price in here, but they have some souvenirs. But if the item is good and the price is valuable, I will buy it."

Financial Secretary Paul Chan attends the opening ceremony and checked out the various vendors.

Financial Secretary PAUL CHAN: "These fairs connect the world of great food and wellness with the people of Hong Kong, of Greater Bay Area, and beyond, bringing the finest products from every continent right to our doorstep."

The exhibition features more than 1850 exhibitors. Some are offering a variety of promotions and are confident they'll do well.

Sales and Marketing Manager of Sau Tao Group NIKKI LUU: "We are doing the limited promotions. This year we project we will have a double digit of the growth worth as last year. Since today is the first day of the event, so we are still monitoring the sales, and checking if the offer is attractive to customers."

This exhibition runs until August 17th. Admission is 30 Hong Kong dollars for all public halls, plus 10 more for the Gourmet Zone.
