A Hong Kong court sentences a 19-year-old man

to 18 months of probation after he wrote seditious messages

on the walls of a public toilet cubicle in Tsim Sha Tsui.

The sentencing takes place at West Kowloon Law Courts.

The man was 18 years old when he wrote seditious words

in a toilet cubicle at China Hong Kong City.

The court says the man was only 12 years old

when the 2019 social movement happened,

meaning he could have been misled by online information at the time.

After taking into account that the man is a first-time offender,

the judge sentences him to a probation order of 18 months.

He must also pay the commercial building

a cleaning fee of 1,500 dollars.
