The Hong Kong Baptist University website is suspected of being hacked.
Sources say around 2,000 people's account information have been leaked.
The suspected hackers are members of the cybercriminal group known as "TheGentlemen".
According to a cybersecurity platform, around 130 educators and another 1,700 users of the website were affected in the cyber attack.
HKBU said it is closely monitoring the university's information and technology system, and will take measures according to existing mechanisms as well as maintain contact with authorities over the matter.
This as Francis Fong, honorary president of the Hong Kong Information Technology Federation, suggested that HKBU should immediately reset passwords across the university's platforms and implement multi-factor authentication measures.
