CUHK Medical Center in SZ to offer health checks

Medical Center of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen is set to fully open at the end of this year.

Its health check-up services have already been launched, with basic packages starting at over 600RMB.

The hospital hopes to fill in gaps in Hong Kong's medical services.

Hong Kong residents now have a new choice in Shenzhen.

This hospital is co-founded by CUHK, CUHK Shenzhen, and the Public Health and Hygiene Commission of Shenzhen Municipality, claiming to match the medical standard of its counterpart in Shatin, Hong Kong.

Located at about half an hour's drive from the Liantang Port, it currently provides outpatient and specialist services, while inpatient and emergency services will be available months later.

The basic health check package costs just over 600 yuan, including liver, kidney, blood lipids checkups and more.

The hospital requires patients to fill in a form of personal details, then uses AI to create a customised checkup plan.

This doctor explains that in Guangdong, people have a higher risk of nasopharyngeal cancer.

By collecting detailed information about one's family history, the hospital can customise items in the health check, avoiding missed detection of high-risk illnesses.

The hospital also aims to conduct minimum blood draw to decrease discomfort for elderly, women and people with delicate health conditions.

Executive Director of CUHK-Shenzhen Medical Center Startup Task Force HOWARD CHAN: "I know the Hong Kong medical system is very in short of medical resources, we are based in China, where we have more resources in space and also manpower, the pricing standard is different in these two places as well, so we will take advantage of this difference and also provide the service that will fill in the gap in the medical requirement or medical needs of the Hong Kong citizens."

The hospital hopes to expand its service scope to the Greater Bay Area and abroad.
