Today sees the latest on the case of baby Danny.

The High Court is expected to deliver its ruling before the end of September after the parents of Danny sought a court order to bring their newborn son home from government care.

Danny, who was born at home, was placed under the care of the Social Welfare Department following a court order. His parents applied for a writ of habeas corpus, arguing the department's decision to place Danny in a children's home violates the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.

During a closed-door hearing at the High Court, Danny's parents argued Danny's placement amounted to arbitrary detention and ill-treatment.

Noting that proper consideration was not given to Danny's best interests and authorities used administrative measures to prevent them from visiting their son and breastfeeding him, they also sought immediate release of the child.
