A suspected Ukraine drone hit a busy beach in
southern Russia killing 7 people including 3 children and injuring 40.
The drone could be seen hurtling towards a cliffside
before crashing into a fireball on the beach below.
The United Nations warns of escalating risks to civilians
as attacks on urban areas in Ukraine intensify.
Our colleagues from the office for the Coordination of Humanitarian
Affairs tell us that over the weekend, large scale attacks on urban
centres and frontline regions killed and injured many civilians
and caused widespread damage to civilian infrastructure.
In the capital Kyiv, an attack on August 1st killed at least nine
people and injured more than 30 others. The regions of
Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro, Donetsk, Mykolaiv, Odesa,
Sumy were also heavily impacted. This is according to what
authorities are telling our colleagues on the ground.
Russia attacks struck the Ukrainian city of Sumy overnight,
killing three people and injuring others, regional officials said.
Two children and an elderly woman were killed in the strikes.
Officials said six guided aerial bombs hit civilian infrastructure
in the city.
On Monday, Russian planes dropped eight powerful glide bombs
in a span of 90 minutes on residential districts of the southern
Ukraine city of Zaporizhzhia, killing one person and wounding
dozens of others.
