At least three dead in Idaho mall shooting

In the US, a shooting at an In-N-Out Burger restaurant in southern Idaho on Saturday afternoon left multiple people dead and others injured, police said.

The shooter was among the dead, Twin Falls Police Chief Matthew Hicks said in a news conference. Police were still trying to determine the shooter's identity and motive.

Before the news conference, Twin Falls County Commissioner Brent Reinke said Sheriff Jack Johnson had told him five people were hurt.

The shooting took place near a busy shopping area and hundreds of people were there at the time, Hicks said. Police where interviewing witnesses and asked for anyone with information to contact authorities.

Mario Olivo, an eyewitness said "you heard everybody running, screaming: 'shooter, active shooter,'" adding that he "heard some shots -- boom, boom, boom!"

Another eyewitness, Dominic Gonzales, whose sister had gone inside the In-N-Out said that he saw a "gentleman walking  from a white vehicle to another vehicle with a pistol in his hand and he popped one shot at the vehicle."

Gonzales's sister, Jaylyn Sanchez, said that she "faced the shooter head on" who "pointed the gun" at her.

The In-N-Out opened just about a week earlier, on July 24, as part of the company's recent expansion to Idaho.
