Landslides and flash floods bring about chaos in Western China

Heavy rainstorm in Gansu Province's Dingxi city brought about flash floods that killed at least 10 people.

Online footage shows the moment the landslide happened, trapping several vehicles in the mud and debris.

In Sichuan's Jiuzhaigou nature reserve, a landslide that occurred at around 4pm on Sunday damaged a portion of the local roads and trapped some 2,300 tourists before they were rescued by fire services personnel.

While the popular campsite of Dingxi city in Gansu Province experienced flash floods at around 2pm on the same day.

Local authorities deployed at least 300 fire services personnel to conduct rescue operations.

After four rounds of rescue work, at least 247 locals were evacuated.
