Child development centre suspected abrupt closure; director arrested

A child development centre in Lai Chi Kok is suspected of suddenly shutting down, with at least 21 people saying they prepaid tuition fees, involving about 800,000 dollars.

The centre is located in CEO Tower in Lai Chi Kok and was closed in the afternoon. Customs said it had posted a notice outside saying it was investigating the suspected sudden closure, and the centre had provided therapy and training courses for children with special learning needs.

Customs said the case may involve unfair trade practices and arrested a 36-year-old male director of the centre.
