Water expert believes water burst in Shau Kei Wan due to aged pipes

An expert estimates that the pipe in Shau Kei Wan developed another leak even after completion of repairs due to pipes weakened by age.

President of the International Institute of Utility Specialists, Wong King, says when pipes age as a whole, continuing repairs will result in another burst point.

He explains that after other pipes in the area are repaired, water pressure increases, and this weak point may result in another burst.

He stresses that if it takes too long to reinforce the pipe, there is definitely a chance of another rupture.
