The government's targeted poverty alleviation strategy focuses on three groups that include subdivided and single-parent households.

A lawmaker on Monday questions the government at a Legislative Council's welfare meeting asking if it could expand the support to other groups in society.

Legco member Cheung Pui-Kong says, "The reality is these types of residents also require integrated support. In the future, a lot of SDU households will be moving to public housing."

Secretary for Labour and Welfare Chris Sun says: "But we will consider expanding the pilot... Not necessarily to PRH tenants, it depends on the organisers of the CLRs and the district level, if they are able to serve all the basic needy groups then they have the means to go further. We do have a lot of people living in cramped living space in Hong Kong."
