Sen. Lindsey Graham, one of US President Donald Trump’s closest allies in Congress, has died after a “brief and sudden illness,” according to his office. He was 71.

Graham was one of Washington’s most influential voices on foreign affairs and advised Trump on the Iran war and Russia.

The US attacked Iran over a strike by the Islamic Republic on a container ship in the Strait of Hormuz.
