A group of pups and their owners tour the city in an open-top bus and then set sail across Victoria Harbour on board a cruise that recently got its license to serve pets. Some owners hope more similar activities can be held for them to spend time with their pets.

A doggy day trip that starts in Central Pier. Meet Mobie, the nine-year-old passenger. And Mui Mui, the 13-year-old pup. They are among the furry animals who board this sightseeing open-top bus. During the 45-minute journey, owners and pets can enjoy Hong Kong Island's scenery.

An owner, who found out about the trip on social media, says she is happy to see more outing options available for people to spend time with their dogs, including the recent introduction of dog-friendly restaurants. The government has capped the restaurant permit quota at 1,000 in the initial phase.

Dog owner Darcie says " I think we need many more because we need more variates of restaurants, and I think we need more locations across Hong Kong because it is a big place."

After getting off the bus in North Point, the group heads for a 1.5 hour ferry ride. About 30 dogs and owners gather for this part of the activity. To ensure the canine's safety, the double-decker cruise has netting around some of its fences.

Apart from safety measures, the cruise also provides diapers and other cleaning items, such as wet wipes, for dog owners to use during the ride.

A photo-taking session is available for the passengers. After that, lunch is served. Owners are required to follow several rules in the dining area, including not placing dogs on chairs and not entering the kitchen area. While the organiser prepare snacks for the canine, several owners pack their own dog treats.

Dog owner Joanne says " For my dog, (only providing snacks) is not so okay. She is so active and eager to eat a lot of snacks." She hopes the government can open up more public areas for dogs to visit, including beaches.
