Bus crash kills 40 in Pakistan

A passenger bus plunged from a highway into a rocky ravine in southwestern Pakistan on Friday, killing 40 and injuring eight others.

The bus fell into a ravine in remote Dana Sar while carrying not only its own passengers, but also some from another bus that had broken down.

Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari expresses sorrow over the crash, and offers condolences to the families of those killed.

Road accidents are common in Pakistan due to poor road conditions, inadequate law enforcement and unsafe driving practices.

However, this crash is still counted as one of the deadliest road accidents in recent years.
