5 hikers drowned in Fujian's Bayonet Canyan

In Fujian, five hikers drowned in an accident while hiking along the Bayonet Canyon in Putian on Sunday.

They were among a group of nine hikers.

Four others were rescued after they were trapped in the rugged canyon.

Authorities warn that the Bayonet Canyon is an undeveloped wild valley with complex terrain and hidden risks and recent downpours have led to surges in water levels in the creek nearby.
