HK Red Cross calls for donation for Venezuela earthquakes

The Hong Kong Red Cross is appealing to the public to donate to the “Venezuela Earthquake Emergency Appeal 2026”. The donation will be used to help provide temporary shelter, basic living supplies and medical assistance.

The Hong Kong Red Cross says support can help bring hope to hundreds of thousands people in Venezuela who have been severely affected by the earthquakes.

The casualties of the two powerful earthquakes in north-central Venezuela continue to rise, with thousands of deaths and a continuously rising number of injuries.

Many aftershocks have been recorded locally, causing hundreds of buildings to collapse and leaving many people trapped under the rubble waiting for rescue.

Immediately after the earthquakes, the Venezuelan Red Cross has mobilized personnel to assist with search and rescue operations, evacuate residents, and provide emergency medical services.

The International Red Cross has allocated approximately HK$19 million, mobilized emergency supplies, and deployed additional personnel to support local disaster relief efforts. Hong Kong Red Cross has also allocated HK$200k immediately to support local operation.
