The Education Bureau says two staff members are responsible for the SMS incident of central allocation for primary one admission that happened early this month. This comes after the bureau launched an investigation into the matter.
Authorities say one officer made an operational error when setting up the SMS sending procedure in the relevent system on June 2. That led to parents receiving messages a day earlier that the official announcement date, which is June 3.
The bureau says it will take disciplinary action against the officer and they will not receive a salary increment. Meanwhile, the bureau says another officer failed to establish sufficient review measures in the workflow. The person has received warning from the department.
