The government says the Neighbourhood Support Child Care Project has received a notable increase of users in the past year.
The scheme aims to provide families with flexible day child care services at the neighbourhood level. Carers of infants and children under three will receive an "incentive payment" of 60 dollars every hour, while 40 dollars for carers of other children.
In a written reply, the Labour Bureau says 14,000 children used the relevant service last year, a year-on-year increase of 52%. And most of them are from Tuen Mun, Yuen Long and Sham Shui Po.
The number of carers also recorded a year-on-year rise of 60%, reaching 2,048.
