Unstable weather in HK amid active southwest monsoon

Weather conditions in the city remain unstable owing to the effects of an active southwest monsoon and trough of low pressure.

The Hong Kong Observatory expects the accumulative rainfall in the next two days to reach 200 millimetres.

Weather authorities expect heavy thunderstorms will last until at least Thursday, adding the observatory may issue rainstorm warning signals in the coming days when necessary.

This as weather authorities issued the strong monsoon signal at noon, and expected the southwest monsoon to result in gusts exceeding 40 kilometres an hour.
