A 100-strong human tower greets Pope Leo XIV in Barcelona

Pope Leo XIV receives a unique welcome in Barcelona from a group of 100 people forming a human tower.

An eight-year-old girl tops off the 10-metre-high spectacle, waving at the crowd before quickly shimmying down to safety at the Lluis Companys Stadium. 

The So-called "castells" are a unique feat of equilibrium and teamwork that represent identity and culture to Catalonia.

Seemingly impressed, the pope hands out a round of appreciative applause.

Barcelona marks the second stop of the pope's Spanish tour. 

And he continues to draw huge crowds in the largely secular country, as an estimated 40,000 faithful attended the stadium address Tuesday.

Ahead of the rally, the pope blessed a fleet of ambulances that are being to Ukraine.
