Government: some drivers may receive ride-hailing vehicle permit first

Secretary for Transport and Logistics Mable Chan says the government could prioritise the permit allocation for some ride-hailing platform drivers.

The government announces 10,000 vehicle permits for ride-hailing services in the first phase of its regulation.

In a Legislative Council panel meeting, a few lawmakers question the sufficiency of the existing quota. Chan says authorities may prioritise certain drivers or vehicles when it comes to the allocation of the permits.
