DRC regions under rebel control impose mandatory quarantine due to Ebola epidemic

The Congolese regions under the control of the AFC/M23 rebel groups imposed a mandatory quarantine of 21 days for people returning from Bunia and Ituri as part of their response to the Ebola epidemic.

The provincial health director in North Kivu, the area under the control of M23 rebels said Sunday they have put screening measures at check points to ensure that people cannot enter Goma without passing through

the quarantine site in Kanyaruchinya.

Health authorities of Congo reported 904 suspected cases Sunday and 119 suspected deaths since the outbreak of the epidemic in the country a few weeks ago.
