On the last day of the mainland’s May Day Golden Week holiday, some mainland tourists departed Hong Kong.

The Immigration Department anticipates today to be a peak day for outbound travel; as of 10:00 AM, over 169,000 passenger trips had been recorded, including over 19,000 departing mainland visitors.

At the West Kowloon High-Speed Rail Station waiting hall, the morning crowd was not heavy. The station signs only displayed morning and afternoon fares, and tickets for many long-distance and short-distance trains to various provinces and cities were already sold out.

One Shanghai passenger said he would take the high-speed rail to Shenzhen and then transfer to a flight home.

Some travelers have just arrived, taking advantage of the last day of the long holiday to make a same-day round trip to Hong Kong.

To manage passenger flow, the Hong Kong section of the High-Speed Rail will continue to add one pair of temporary train services daily between Hong Kong West Kowloon and Beijing West Station for the coming two days.
