Starting tomorrow, taxis will have to provide at least two e-payment methods to facilitate passengers' payments of taxi fares.
They include QR code e-payment means, such as WeChat Pay HK, Alipay HK or BoC pay, or non-QR code e-payment means, including Octopus cards, credit cards or FPS.
The Transport Department says more than 47,000 cabbies have installed systems that allow various e-payment methods.
Authorities will also deploy staff to inpsect at taxi stands. If passengers came across cabbies who fail to provide e-payment means, they can report the case to the 1823 hotline.
