Changes to North Lantau trial for autonomous vehicles

The Transport Department on Monday said that authorities have updated a pilot licence for autonomous vehicles in accordance with the Road Traffic Regulation. The licence is for a cross-district autonomous vehicle trial connecting Airport Island in North Lantau with Tung Chung Town Centre and Sunny Bay.

Changes to the North Lantau trial include: an extension to the trial routes to cover up to 43.2 kilometres, and an increase of the number of autonomous vehicles to operate for the open-road passenger-carrying trial on Airport Island and in Tung Chung Town Centre.
