Ahead of the Lunar New Year, Chief Executive John Lee visited senior citizens and other residents in Yau Ma Tei this morning, pledging that his administration will continue to prioritise community work.

Chief Executive John Lee visited Prosperous Garden this morning, a housing estate developed by the Housing Society in Yau Ma Tei.

He was accompanied by Secretary for Labour and Welfare Chris Sun, and Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs Alice Mak.

Upon arrival, he was surrounded by tourists, who were visiting the former Yau Ma Tei Police Station, a popular tourist attraction in the district.

Many requested to take photos with the Chief Executive.

The encounter with the city leader left many sightseers thrilled.

What impressed this tourist from Jiangsu was that she was able to interact closely with the Chief Executive.

Lee then moved to the estate's podium to chat with seniors.

John Lee asked if they had a regular meeting place for tea.

He said he aspires to such a simple and sociable life.

Closing with a seasonal blessing, he wished them good health and a prosperous Year of the horse ahead.

On his way to an elderly community service centre, he stopped to chat with residents.

In a centre for seniors, Lee joined them for a singing session.

The tour also included two household visits behind closed doors.

Summarising his visit, Lee said many residents were satisfied with the amenities and services in their district.

Stressing that community work is one of the government's priorities, he said senior residents had contributed so much to Hong Kong's development over the years, and now it's time to take care of them.
