Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will meet with US President Donald Trump in Washington on Wednesday about American talks with Iran, while Iran's foreign minister threatened US military bases in the region a day after the discussions.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi spoke from Doha during an interview with broadcaster Al Jazeera that if the US attacks Iran, his country does note have the ability to strike the US, therefore will have to attack or retaliate against US base in the region.

He said there is very deep distrust after what happened during the pervious talks, when the US bombed Iranian nuclear sites last year.

Meanwhile, US Mideast special envoy Steve Witkoff and President Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kusher visited the USS Abraham Lincoln in the Arabian Sea on Saturday, along with the head of US Central Command Admiral Brad Cooper.

Trump said the US had very good talks and said more were planned for early next week.

Trump has threatened to use force to compel Iran to reach a deal on its nuclear programme after sending USS Abraham Lincoln and other warships to the region.
