Paul Chan highlights 15th five year plan in new legislature's first antechamber meeting

The new legislature held its first antechamber meeting this morning with senior officials in the financial and economic areas led by Financial Secretary Paul Chan.

The discussions were focused on how the city should align with the national "15th Five-Year Plan".

Nearly 70 out of the 90 legislators participated in the hour-and-a-half-long exchange on how Hong Kong can better integrate into the overall national development strategy

and promotion of industrial development.

The discussions touched on Hong Kong's alignment with the "15th Five-Year Plan," and how to consolidate and enhance the city's status as an international financial, shipping, and trade centre.

Financial Secretary Paul Chan said after the meeting that the "15th Five-Year Plan" recommendations will be fully considered while planning the Budget.

Speaking on Hong Kong's role in the nation's overall technological development, the FS said Hong Kong can make unique contributions such as gathering top global R&D teams and talents, as well as cutting-edge innovation and technology companies.

Meanwhile, Acting Legco President Ronick Chan stressed the lawmakers of the new legislature were eager to contribute to the discussion.

He hopes that the government and the lawmaking body can maintain regular healthy exchange, with the lawmakers offering realistic suggestions.
