Police have received 45 reports of online romance scams in the past two weeks, with losses of over 43 million dollars.

One case involved a 48-year-old man who developed an online romance with a scammer after receiving a cold call message on Instagram.

The scammer claimed to have a relative in the U.S. involved in cryptocurrency and offered "insider tips."

The man transferred 2.1 million dollars in cryptocurrency to the scammer in seven installments.

The victim only found out when the scammer disappeared.

Police remind the public to be vigilant against cold call online messages and to be wary of any high-return investment offers.
