The Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data received 4,228 complaints last year, a 23% increase year-on-year.
Over 90% of the complaints involved private organizations and individuals, while approximately 380 complaints concerned public organizations or government departments, a proportion similar to 2024.
Regarding data breaches, the Office received 246 cases last year, a 21% increase year-on-year, with 32% involving public organizations.
Another 92 cases involved data breaches by schools or non-profit organizations, mainly involving hacking and lost documents.
As for doxing cases, the Office handled 308 cases last year, a 30% decrease year-on-year.
Of these, 147 cases required criminal investigation, resulting in the arrest of 18 people, with 30% transferred to the police for follow-up.
