The advance of a cold front across Cuba caused flooding along Havana's coastline on Sunday, particularly on the Malecon, with waves up to four metres high and strong winds.

According to state media reports, evacuations took place in the lower-lying areas of the city, but no information was given on the number of people moved to safety.

Many of those evacuated were moving themselves to homes of family or friends.

According to reports from the Cuban Meteorological System, wind gusts of up to 72 kilometers per hour and sustained gusts of between 15 and 30 kilometers per hour occurred in the early hours of Sunday.
