A deputy to the National People's Congress of China was reportedly robbed in Paris, involving losses worth more than 60 million Hong Kong dollars.

French prosecutors said the crime occurred in the 16th arrondissement of Paris' high-end residential area late Thursday night. He was attacked by thieves while sleeping at his residence.

Valuable items robbed included watches and jewellery, with an estimated loss of 7 million euros, equivalent to about 64 million dollars.

The victim said that he was attacked on the head and the two thieves fled afterwards, but the police said there was no sign of forced entry, and it was suspected that the thief had stolen the key to enter the house.
