US Secret Service detained a 26-year-old man who broke windows and
caused other damage to US Vice President JD Vance's home.
William DeFoor is facing federal changes for allegedly damaging
government property, engaging in physical violence against property
in a restricted area, as well as assaulting federal officers.
DeFoor was detained by Secret Service agents assigned to
Vance's home in downtown Cincinnati, according to the federal agency.
The vice president and his family were not at home,
having returned to Washington on Sunday after a weekend there.
Court records show that DeFoor faced an earlier charge of
vandalism in 2024, and agreed to treatment under the
local mental health court system.
