Santas on the run in Madrid

Thousands of runners wearing festive costumes took part in the annual Santa charity run in Madrid on Sunday.

More than 10,000 runners dressed as Father Christmas or one of his elves took part in the 4.5 kilometre (2.8 miles) race through the centre of the Spanish capital.

The sold-out event, celebrating its 14th anniversary, was organised by one of the biggest Spanish department store groups to raise money for Spain's Red Cross.
