The Very Hot Weather Warning remains in force.

The tropical cyclone to the east of the Philippines will enter the South China Sea Friday night at the earliest.

By then, the Observatory will issue the Standby Signal No. 1.

The Observatory has warned the public of the possibility of the Strong Wind Signal No.3 being issued on Saturday,
and higher signals on Sunday.

Temperatures remain high at night, with most of the areas reaching 30 degrees Celsius or above.

Residents grab some ice-cream as a way to cool down.

Heat continues to grip the city due to the sinking air at the outer circulation of tropical cyclones.

The Observatory said the tropical cyclone that is skirting around the east of the Philippines, will move northwest to the northern part of Luzon.

It is expected to enter within 800 kilometres of Hong Kong on Friday night to the early hours of Saturday.

Betty Mak, Scientific Officer of HKO said, " the tropical cyclone is expected to bring heavy squally showers and thunderstorms to the coast of Guangdong and the northern part of the South China Sea during the weekend. Locally in Hong Kong, there will be more showers on Saturday and winds will strengthen gradually later. The weather will be windy with squally showers and thunderstorms on Sunday and Monday."

The Observatory said it would assess whether to issue the Strong Wind Signal No.3 on Saturday, and higher Tropical Cyclone Warning Signals on Sunday.
