The Hong Kong men's handball team finished fourth in the National Games after a 25-33 defeat in the bronze medal match, yet still achieving their best-ever result in the competition's history.

Dozens of home supporters dressing in red cheered passionately throughout the intense match.

The first half saw both teams locked in a tight battle, though Hong Kong struggled to convert late opportunities, trailing 11-15 at halftime.

Despite a determined effort, the team's defence faltered repeatedly after the break, resulting in an 8-point deficit by the final whistle.

Among the spectators were Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism Rosanna Law and Hong Kong National Games Coordination Office Director Yeung Tak-keung.

Hong Kong Handball Association Chairman Ho Chung-ho expressed hope the team's historic performance would encourage stronger government support, particularly in training venue provision, to further develop the sport.
