Outgoing Legco President Andrew Leung said the Legislative Council was back on the right track this term.
Leung, aged 74, has chaired the Legco for two terms.
He earlier announced his decision to step down.
Looking back, he said the council has overcome years of internal deadlock and has passed a lot of major bills.
Speaking on a radio programme, Leung hailed the constructive interaction between lawmakers and the government.
He said he hopes newly-elected councillors could carry on the legacy.
