The plenary session of the 30th Ibero-American Summit opened in Madrid, bringing together leaders from Spain, Portugal and countries across Central and South America for a two-day meeting.
Attention focused on Argentine President Javier Milei, who has been an outspoken critic of Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez.
Sanchez called for Spanish and Portuguese to play a central role in the development of artificial intelligence.
Milei, meanwhile, reflected on Argentina's economic challenges when he took office.
He said his government's starting point was to defuse a catastrophe of biblical proportions amid predictions of failure from those who had sown the crisis.
