Democrats flip key Republican seat in North Carolina Senate race

Democrats flip a key Senate seat in North Carolina and secures

victories in Georgia and New Hampshire on Tuesday as they fight to break

Republicans' hold on power in Washington.

Former Governor Roy Cooper defeated Michael Whatley, marking

North Carolina's first Democratic senator since 2015.

Meanwhile, Democratic Senator Jon Ossoff won a reelection in Georgia,

defeating Representative Mike Collins.

These results boosted Democratic hopes of recapturing a Senate majority

despite running through several conservative states.
