Chief Secretary Eric Chan inspected the Shenzhen Bay and Huanggang ports hours after the reported congestions.

In a social media post, Chan noted he received operational briefings from relevant departments.

He stated he instructed the Security Bureau to ensure port operations are safe, efficient, and orderly.

This included opening additional inspection counters and vehicle lanes early to manage the flow of travelers ahead of the peak period.

Chan also required the Transport and Logistics Bureau to supervise operators to prepare adequately, such as reserving sufficient vehicles and manpower to meet transport needs based on passenger volume.

Chan added visitors could consider staying overnight in Hong Kong after participating in mega events to experience the city's culture and vitality.
