Financial Chief says HK continues to seek common ground for economies

The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Finance Ministers' Meeting was held in Hong Kong last week.

Speaking on a radio programme, Financial Secretary Paul Chan said differing needs among economies made reaching a consensus difficult.

However, Chan said Hong Kong maintained an attitude of seeking common ground to find room for cooperation.

Chan noted despite different political stances and development stages, economies should respect each other and avoid setting up barriers.

Chan stated mutual exchanges and developing individual strengths was the most efficient and cost-effective approach for global development.
