A woman drove a truck through a football field while a game was going
on in Wichita, Kansas on Saturday, killing two people
and injuring 11 others, many seriously.
Witchita Police Department spokesman Aaron Moses said, "when officers and paramedics and firefighters arrived, they located a scene
on a field on the west end of the complex, and they saw community members
and citizens rendering medical aid to those who were injured."
"They also located a truck on the west side of the field.
The driver of that truck was still with the vehicle, along with two juveniles
who were inside the truck at the time of this incident.
The driver of that truck is a 34 year old female from Garden City.
She has been cooperative to this point in the investigation.
On the field, two people were pronounced dead here at the scene.
One of them is a six year old male from McPherson.
The other is a 35 year old male from McPherson.
They are not, of family relation to each other."
It is not clear whether the driver drove onto the field intentionally,
but authorities said there was no further public threat.
Wichita mayor Lily Wu said the news was heartbreaking
and her thoughts and prayers are with the families of those killed
and injured.
