Rallies organised by the No Kings network opposed to President Donald Trump were held Saturday in cities and communities across the United States with an aim of getting people out to vote early in the midterm elections.

This as the US president touted his power as he rallied in Kentucky to bolster Republican turnout.

In Houston, Texas, a banner holding "No Kings" crowd marched through the streets of the city.

Jasmine Khadem Gonzalez, Organiser of Houston Democratic Socialists of America said "I want to say that this administration is terrified.

It's why they gerrymander our districts. It's why they overturned the Voting Rights Act. And it's why they are threatening immigration enforcementat the polls. They want to intimidate us."

Ashley Escandon, Organiser of 50501 Houston said "We have underprivileged communities that are on the verge of disarray in desperate need of better infrastructure and clean

living spaces. But instead we have neighbourhoods that are being terrorised and refuse to open their doors as they fear that ICE will rip them from their homes."

Rallies too in Los Angeles, California, one of hundreds of planned events across the country billed as nonpartisan. The protest in the

Southern California metropolis marked the fourth installment of this national movement over the past year or so.

Meanwhile, President Donald Trump was rallying in Kentucky to bolster Republican turnout ahead of the midterm elections.

US President Donald Trump said, "And I said, you know, why is it called the Gulf of Mexico? We have much more frontage. It should be called the Gulf of America.

And I don't think I can have done this in my first term.

Well I also changed the name of a lake in Canada to Lake America, right? Lake America."

While meandering through topics onstage in Kentucky, Trump touched on gas prices, saying that prices will drop to lower than before. And that the war with Iran was going

to end soon, an assertion he's made many times over the course of the eight-month conflict.
