EMSD: fire-resistant frames not installed at 78 buildings by Taizoom

The latest inspections by the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department have revealed that fire-resistant door frames have not been installed at lifts of 78 buildings serviced by the elevator contractor Taizoom Elevator Company (HK) Limited.

EMSD also mandates that contractors and engineers inspect and confirm if lifts they have handled over the past 10 years hold fire-resistant functions -- and sign relevant declarations after confirmation.

All this comes after EMSD said on Thursday that it has referred the contractor Taizoom Elevator Company (HK) Limited to the police for possible fraud over missing fire-resistant door frames at two public housing estates.
