Yemen's Iran-aligned Houthi rebels have claimed responsibility for attacks targeting Saudi airports and energy facilities. Saudi Arabia earlier issued alerts for potential hostile threats in Riyadh.

Meanwhile, sources say blasts are heard in Sanaa, Yemen, following airstrikes by warplanes as Houthis threaten harsh response.

A Houthi official reportedly said Saudi Arabia was responsible for the group's attacks that killed over a dozen people and injured more than 300 others at King Khalid International Airport. The Houthis blame a Saudi-led coalition for aggressing areas that the group control in western Yemen.

Early this week, the coalition announces intercepting and destroying ballistic missiles that targeted Saudi cities Riyadh and Khamis Mushait amid investigations to determine how the kingdom's air defense system failed to intercept the barrage of missile and drones that struck Riyadh's main airport over the weekend.

Houthis have claimed responsibility for the fresh attacks.

On Tuesday, coalition spokesman Turki Al-Malki warns civilians to evacuate the Yemen Petroleum Company site and the Sabah Central Station in the Yemeni capital of Sanaa ahead of an expected military operation.

A statement from the joint forces command maps out the area of sites as they urge people to leave for their own safety.

Local residents heard loud explosions across the Houthi-held city, according to a Xinhua report.

Houthi-run Al-Masirah TV reported an attack on the Yemen Oil Company on the same day.

Houthis have warned that any strikes on Sanaa will be met with a "harsh and painful" response in Riyadh.
