McDonald's HK says latest testing shows shrimp burgers safe

Taiwan McDonald's recently suspended sales of its shrimp burger after detecting nitrofuran and its metabolites. McDonald's Hong Kong recently stated that local testing confirmed its shrimp patties contain no banned substances and comply with food safety standards.

To ease public concerns, McDonald's Hong Kong had previously suspended sales of the shrimp burger, while clarifying that its local shrimp patty batches and recipe differ from those in Taiwan.

The company's latest update indicates that independent third-party testing confirmed no nitrofuran or its metabolites were detected in the samples.

It added that the shrimp burger was a limited-time offering, and the related promotional campaign has now ended.
