South Korean President Lee Jae Myung proposes the two Koreas
begin a dialogue to end the long-running war
and find practical ways to halt the advancement of North Korea's nuclear programme.
Lee's comments come during a speech at a ceremony marking
the 81st Liberation Day from the Japanese occupation in 1945.
Meanwhile, North Korea state media shows leader Kim Jong Un
accompanied by his wife Ri Sol Ju and daughter Kim Ju Ae,
paying their respects at the Liberation Tower in Pyongyang.

on Mount Taesong on the outskirts of Pyongyang.
